The new LSU Dental School Annex Building is out of the ground, with the first concrete slab pour on the July 4th weekend. VergesRome/Mathes Brierre Architects, A Joint Venture, designed the new, raised, two-story Annex building to house operations that previously occupied the basement and first floors of the Clinic Building damaged in Hurricane Katrina. Operations to be housed in the new facility include dental surgery rooms, dental operatories, faculty practice dental clinic, housekeeping, shipping and receiving operations, public reception, laboratories, student teaching, research, and training facilities.
Whitney Bank is building a new bank branch next to the Lakeside Mall where the Goodyear Tire store formerly stood. This branch will replace the current store at the corner of North Causeway Boulevard and 17th Street.
On February 27, 2016, Saint Joseph Abbey + Seminary College broke ground on its first new building in more than half a century, the Pere Rouquette Library.
